People often wonder what they can do with the cremated remains of their loved ones and don’t realize there are a number of options available to them. At Simply Cremations and Funeral Services, we’re always willing to help our families and loved ones with their plans and often recommend the options mentioned below:

1. Scattering

This is the most common and symbolic way of dealing with cremated remains. Some people scatter the remains in water while others choose to scatter them over land. Just check with the local authorities to ensure you’re allowed to scatter the ashes at the location before you attempt to do so.

2. Burying it

You can place the ashes in an urn and bury the urn in a special burial ground. This is also a very popular way of disposing ashes as urn burial grounds are more affordable than traditional burial grounds. Loved ones can also visit the ground to reconnect with their deceased family member or friend.

3. Columbarium

A Columbarium is a place to store urns filled with cremated remains. This is similar to a burial as you can reserve a place in the columbarium and loved ones can visit it when they want to pay your respects. The urns are stored on shelves or walls so they remain undisturbed and undamaged.

4. Burying the Remains at Your Home

You can store the remains in an urn and bury it in your garden or backyard. This doesn’t cost much and is very convenient. You can build a small garden or memorial around the burial site or leave the location undisclosed. While you can bury the ashes without an urn, it’s not advisable.
