Cremation Facts, Everything You Need to Know
Cremation Facts, Everything You Need to Know

Cremations have risen in popularity in recent years but there’s still a lot of mystery surrounding the process. Fortunately, it is not very complicated or elaborate. A cremation is affordable, straightforward, and can be a great way to bid goodbye to a loved one who has passed away. At Simply Cremations, we handle cremations regularly and are very familiar with the process. Here are some things you need to know about it:

1. The process

The process is easy to understand. After the body is released to the funeral director, it is taken to the crematorium and is burned in a special chamber.  Before the burning, the mortician will remove items like pacemakers because they’re likely to explode. The burning process takes some time and after it is complete, all the remains like lingering bones, teeth fragments, etc, are collected and pulverized. These remains are called ‘ashes’ and they are stored in urns.

2. Funeral service

It’s a common misconception that the family can’t have visitation or funeral service before cremation. You can carry out the viewing before the body is cremated or hold a memorial several days after the cremation. The ashes don’t need to be buried or scattered immediately after the cremation so families and loved ones can still find solace by visiting them.

3. Cost

Cremations are more affordable than traditional burials. They include the cost of transporting the body, preparing it, cremation, casket, urn, cost of funeral home services, and cost of burying and storing ashes.

Cremations are eco-friendly, easier, and secular. That’s why they have become so popular in the recent years. The funeral director will explain the process and your options in detail upon request.
